A Moment in the Word

 Don't Forget

"But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.  For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.   You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.
But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it."  James 1:22-25

How many times do we quickly read through God's Word just to be able to say that we did it?  We glance at His Word, like glancing at our face in the mirror.  But there is a difference between a glance and looking intently.

When I take the time to really look at my face in the mirror I notice the areas that need some work.  It's the same way when we take the time to really look into the Word of God.  We begin to see those areas that need a little more work in our lives and we allow the Holy Spirit to make the necessary adjustments.

Take time to look carefully into the Holy Word and be blessed today!

Strengthened By Grace

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them."  Hebrews 13:8-9

Jesus Christ remains the same.  His love for you will never fail and His Way of salvation is sure.  Rules and rituals can influence conduct, but they don't change the condition of our hearts.  We need God's Amazing Grace to change us from the inside out.

Loving Discipline

“My child, don’t make light of the LORD’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.
For the LORD disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”
Hebrews 12:5

As children we didn't like to receive discipline from our parents, and as parents we may not always like to have to correct our children.  But we discipline them because we love them.

God's discipline is a sign of His deep love for us; He is treating us as His own dear children.  Though it might not be enjoyable while it is happening,  God's discipline is always good for us.  The purpose of His discipline is that we might share in His Holiness.

Submit to God's discipline and live in peace with your Heavenly Father.

The Perfect Sacrifice

"When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry.  But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance."  ~ Hebrews 9:6-7

Under the law the only access to God was through the high priest.  This high priest could only enter the Most Holy Place once a year, and only with a sacrifice of a bull or goat - first to atone for his own sins and then for the sins of the people.

But Jesus entered the Most Holy Place, not by the blood of goats and calves; but by His own blood, once for all and secured our redemption forever.  Christ offered Himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.

Oh hallelujah, what a Savior!
