Lift Your Horn

The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.” 1 Samuel 16:1 NIV

Are you mourning over a lost dream or disappointment? Sometimes life doesn't work out the way we have planned; but often that is the problem . . . it's what we have planned, not necessarily what God desires for us.

God wanted to be Israel's king, but the people had a different plan. Under God's direction, Samuel anointed Saul as king, but Saul failed and God rejected him. It was time to move on with a new king, a better king, but Samuel was stuck in what was. He was so consumed with mourning over the past that he couldn't see what God wanted to do in the future.

How long will you stay stuck in what was?

Moving on doesn't mean you stop caring or you stop hurting. It just means you accept that you can't change it. Lift your horn up to God and let Him fill you with fresh oil.

Saul failed you, but David is waiting in the wings .

Many Blessings,

What a great post! You are so right. Sometimes I just mourn Saul because he's the guy I know. And David is around the corner??? What am I sad about? LOL!

I'm ready for that fresh oil, that's for sure.
