Keep On

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.
Keep on seeking, and you will find.
Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you."
Matthew 7:7 NLT

God wants us to be persistent in our petitions to Him.  He desires to give us good and necessary gifts, just as our earthly fathers do.  But unlike our earthly fathers, our Heavenly Father knows exactly what is best for us.

Sometimes God knows we are praying for "snakes" and even though we keep on asking, He does not give us what we ask for.  Nor will God give us "stones" or instead of what we really need.

As we learn to know God better as a loving Father, we learn to ask for what is good for us and then He grants it.

Many blessings,

  1. Yes! So often I have asked for something that I didn't see as a snake, but praise God -- He did!

  2. Persistence was the topic of my pastor's message on yesterday. Although a different passage of scripture was used.

  3. Hi Lisa - excellent post. As you learn to know God better as loving father, we learn to ask better and more wiser. Great advice

  4. Nice reminder, Lisa. I love praying that God will give me eyes to see things through His perspective. We can't go wrong that way.

  5. Praying for snakes and rocks... what a great analogy. I pray that He opens our eyes, ears, and discernment enough to see those snakes and rocks we think we need. <3 kendra
