Don't Forget

"But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.  For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.   You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.
But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it."  James 1:22-25

How many times do we quickly read through God's Word just to be able to say that we did it?  We glance at His Word, like glancing at our face in the mirror.  But there is a difference between a glance and looking intently.

When I take the time to really look at my face in the mirror I notice the areas that need some work.  It's the same way when we take the time to really look into the Word of God.  We begin to see those areas that need a little more work in our lives and we allow the Holy Spirit to make the necessary adjustments.

Take time to look carefully into the Holy Word and be blessed today!

Many blessings,

  1. Oh I am so guilty of glancing and not looking intently! This is a good reminder to me. Thank you.

  2. I never want my time with God to be a glance. Though I have been guilty of doing that. I want to walk away from the Word changed, renewed.

  3. Hi Lisa - great reminder! I too am guilty of this, ouch!
    God bless
