Deliberately Remember

They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water.  2 Peter 3:5 NLT
These words hit me every time I read them.  I've read this verse in several different versions and they all speak the same thing; this wasn't an accidental forgetting.  They didn't just get busy and forget - this was an act of their will.

There are many times during my week, even during my day that I forget about the many blessings in my life.  I get too busy or too focused on me and fail to notice the gifts God has given me.  I may forget sometimes, but I don't ever want it to be a deliberate choice.  Instead, I want to make a choice to deliberately remember the blessings in my life.

Gratitude is a God-honoring attitude

So this week I am grateful for:
516.  An awesome friend who jumps in to help me anytime I need it.
517.  Being used by God to deliver a message of His Great Love
518.  Hearing from another friend that God has been reminding her of His Love for her
519.  Thunder, lightening, and much needed rain
520.  My godly husband who listens to God's promptings and gets up at 4:30 am to pray
521.  Seeing my life in a different perspective through the eyes of my friends
522.  Evening spent laughing with my sisters and daughter
523.  Being reminded that God is in control and I should let go of my expectations
524.  Waking up to a light dusting of snow that quickly melted
525.  Praying with my husband
526.  Reminders from God that I am Accepted
527.  Beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon
528.  My Great God who thinks I am worth the price that was paid to redeem me
529.  Time for my husband to relax and do something he wants to do
530.  Celebrating the birth of my twins 20 years ago today
What's on your list today?

Thankful Thursday

  1. I need to get back into my gratitude journal, thanks for this convicting and encouraging post!

  2. I sometimes forget too but I never ever ever want to make a concious effort to forget all God has done for me. Great post, love your list too :)

  3. O also sometime forget to be thankfull, thank you for this great blog.

  4. I do not want to be guilty of choosing to forget God's goodness.

  5. I, too, forget to see the blessings in my life at times. I am learning to be more intentional when it comes to counting my blessings.

  6. I want to deliberately remember too, Lisa. Life is much sweeter that way!

  7. I think to deliberately forget is almost the same as 'selective hearing'. You push away all thoughts that you don't want and go on your merry way.

  8. I forget to look sometimes. I get caught up and carried away by the wind. But I never want to take anything for granted. He is always good and gives me so much to be thankful for!

  9. Sharing the things we are thankful for is always such an encouragement! I particularly loved #523.

  10. You have such a wonderful list of thanks to the Lord... You are so very, very blessed. Have a wonderful day :)

  11. What a great list of blessings to share.

I agree, we need to be more deliberate about our blessings in our lives.
