Convenient and Comfortable

Have you ever started a new routine in your life only to drift away from it after a few days or weeks?  Maybe you rearranged your schedule to allow for more time reading God's Word or to accommodate a new exercise program; but new is hard, and you soon found yourself going back to what was familiar.

The book of Hebrews was originally written to Jewish Christians who had turned from tradition to follow Christ.  These believers were now facing rejection and persecution from their peers, and it was tempting for them to return to an easier way.

Our walk with Christ is not guaranteed to be easy; in fact, it's just the opposite.  Jesus said, "Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.” (John 16:33)  Life can be so hard, but we can be sure that God will always walk with us and it will be worth it.  Don't give up!

"Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”  Deuteronomy 31:8

Are you committed to following Christ, no matter what it costs... or are you tempted to return to what is convenient and comfortable?

Many blessings,

  1. It can be so easy to "take the easy way out." I want to fully follow Christ, no matter the cost.

  2. Hi Lisa - I often think "what was wrong with those Israelites?" But I would probably have been just as daft! Great reminder to stick to the Lord like glue.
    God bless

  3. That is so true, Lisa. I'm a person who doesn't like change--

  4. I am committed to follow Him no matter what... and more than that, I'm joyful knowing that the trials are just proof that God loves me and is working on me. I love that. Puts it all in proper perspective. Thanks for this encouragement Lisa :)
