Connecting to the Source

I woke up tired - ever have one of those mornings?  As I sat with my coffee and my Bible, I struggled to keep my thoughts on God.  My tired brain just wouldn't focus.  I tried to pray, but my prayers felt flat.  There was no joy; no excitement about spending time with God.  Then I opened my Bible.

It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,
to proclaim your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night.
Psalm 92:1-2 NIV

As I read these words I felt a stirring in my spirit.  What once felt dry and forced now felt alive.

For you make me glad by your deeds, O Lord;
I sing for joy at the works of your hands.
How great are your works, O Lord,
how profound your thoughts!
Psalm 92:4-5 NIV

My spirit responded to the reading of God's Word because it recognized God's voice.  What I was trying to force was happening naturally because I was connecting to God.

The Word of God is living and active.  It brings life to our dry ground.

My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
Psalm 73:26

Have you connected to the Source today?

  3. What amazing verses to lift your focus and your spirit. I needed those verses today as well! It's hard sometimes to get up and get into the Word when your body and mind are tired. But when we keep pressing on, like you did today, there is always a blessing waiting for us:)
