Awake

Awake
Am I living fully awake
or is part of my heart still sleep?

Do I go through the motions
with no promises to keep?

Is my heart wide open for Christ to live there
without any worries, without any cares?

Will I live in surrender, my whole life for You?
Where do I look for direction and cue?

These questions, You are asking, I feel in my heart
Do I love You fully, or only in part?

 Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Psalm 57:8-10

  1. Beautiful verse! Your thoughts and mine seem to have settled on the same meaning of "awake". It's one thing to be physically awake, but quite another to be awake to the Lord's work in our lives. Well done.

  3. Lisa my dear friend, this was absolutely beautiful. When we fully awaken our hearts to accept the love of Christ, our lives can truly become what God intended them to be.

    Thank you for sharing your heart with us!

    Have a Blessed Day!

  4. Lisa, These are great questions. Is part of my heart still asleep? Is it wide open? Will I surrender? WOW! I need to ask these of myself all the time!
