Stumbling Over a Rock

It's usually not the big things that make me stumble; I can trip over the smallest things.  In fact, I can trip even when there is nothing there.  Put a log in my path and I will step over that, but a crack in the sidewalk will make me fall. I'll be walking through the store and suddenly trip over my own feet.

Sometimes we stumble with our feet, but other times we stumble with our hearts.   This is what happened to some of the people of Israel.  They were trying to get right with God by keeping the Law instead of by trusting in Jesus.  The Word says, "They stumbled over the great rock in their path." (Romans 9:32)

This Great Rock was Jesus!

We stumble over this Rock, too, when we try so hard, in our own strength, to be good enough or holy enough.  We must accept that God made the way for us through the blood of His Son, Jesus and His Grace is more than enough.

Keep your eyes fixed firmly on Jesus - then you won't have to worry about stumbling over a rock.

  8. This post reminded me of my skating. I play roller derby, and when I saw this, I was like, she musta watched me play recently. I can jump bodies and legs, but you get me all alone with nothing but the floor seams and I fall all over the place!!!

Love it! And my favorite pic in your flickr is the double dose of aqua filter kitties. :)

  10. I never get tired of hearing "We must accept that God made the way for us through the blood of His Son, Jesus and His Grace is more than enough." His Grace is enough--such a freeing fact.
Love this post, Lisa! I would love to play a game of Scrabble with you. It's a family favorite with us, too.
    Blessings!

  11. Lisa,

I had to giggle a bit, I can step over a giant boulder in my path, but sure enough I can trip over the air any day of the week.

I have backslidden a bit lately, I got busy trying earn His love, I don't why I do that, but sometimes I think I have to earn His love, when it is a free gift. Thank you for writing about this today.

    Blessings to you Lisa.
