Winter is Coming

I LOVE this time of year!  The mornings are crisp, the days are warm, the sky is blue, and the trees - oh, I love the trees.  All of nature is displaying the majesty of God.

As I was looking at the trees, I began to think about why we are able to enjoy this beautiful display of color.  The trees are shutting down the production of chlorophyll to prepare for winter.

Nature understand the seasons, and everything is preparing for the coming winter.  Squirrels are busy storing nuts, other animals are fattening up for hibernation, the grass is going dormant, the birds are flying south, and the leaves are falling.

Nature understand the seasons; do we?

The Son of Man could return at anytime - what are we doing to prepare? How many people have we told about Jesus?  Do our families know and understand?  I don't want to ignore the signs.

Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.  Matthew 24:32-33

  1. "Nature understands the seasons, do we?" Great question, Lisa and one I needed to hear.

  2. Wow, Lisa - a very profound statement, do we understand? I too, want to be able to read the signs. I don't want to miss out on all that God has for me.
    God bless

  3. Great post and your pictures are beautiful. I think so often I miss the things God is telling me, trying to explain to me. I don't want to miss a single thing. The seasons are changing and I want to fully understand, fully comprehend. again your pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!

  4. I love this season. I am reading "Grace for the Good Girl" and it's changing me. Such a great eye opener. Have a blessed Monday!

  5. I have Grace for the Good Girl on my long list of reading materials. Great list and great lesson on being prepared for the coming of our King.

    Today I am thankful for:

  7. As much as i love this time of Year Too, I don't evenm want to think of winter and the -34 temps it brings to where i live... Love the blog... Keep up the great work :)

  8. I think everyone has seasons on their minds as of late Lisa, and you draw the analogy beautifully. As nature leads it's membership to the coming winter, so must we prepare for the return of our Lord.

I love your list this week! I will admit to being partial to #319, #324 and yes... I like Angry Birds Rio as well... (#315). :-)

    Have a Blessed Day Lisa!

  9. So true Lisa...winter is coming and may we be prepared, but also don't forget about the ones around us. We wouldn't leave them out in the winter cold...we shouldn't leave them in the fire of hell either :)

  10. Great post Lisa. I have been thinking much lately about families and being prepared. It's hard when they know the way but still won't accept Him. Prayer and more prayer!!
    Blessings to you

  11. When I first started reading, I thought you were going to talk about the seasons of our life as well. Great post!! We need to be ready for Jesus!!

  15. This is so true! Sometimes we get so caught up in things that it's so easy to ignore the signs of life's seasons changing. Thanks for the reminder! :)

  16. really beautiful, I love that first picture! I love this time of year too, except we're having an odd heat wave in LA this week--supposed to be 95 degrees tomorrow!! Won't feel much like fall here for another month unfortunately!

  17. Ooooo, I want to walk there in that picture, too! My clean house only ever lasts for a short time, also.
    Come, Lord Jesus, come!
