What Do They See?

I often wonder what people think of me.  What do they see when they look at me?

If anyone was watching me as I was trying on rubber Halloween masks at K Mart with my daughter, they probably thought I was a little strange, a bit unstable.  I'm sure we were causing quite a scene.  Other times I may appear uncaring or indifferent as I hurry through my schedule for the day.

Whether I'm rushing through a store or being silly with my daughter, there is one thing I hope people all see when they look at me . . .

People paid attention to Joseph.  His brothers noticed when his father gave him the special coat.  They also noticed when Joseph had dreams about sheaves of wheat bowing down to him.

Potipher noticed Joseph (so did his wife - which landed him in jail).  In prison, the fellow inmates and the prison guard noticed Joseph, and later on Pharaoh noticed him too.  What did all these people see when they looked at Joseph?

They all saw that the Lord was with Joseph.  (Gen. 39:3, 23; Gen. 41:38)

. . . and that is the one thing I hope people see when they look at me.

I pray that Jesus shines through me everyday, whether I am goofing around or concentrating on the task at hand.  When the world looks at me, I pray they see that the Lord is with me.

What does the world see when they look at you?

  6. Hi Lisa - I too want people to see God in me. The thing is though, that that will cause one of 2 responses - jealousy or joy. Depends on the person's motivation. But I'd rather a person, however motivated, see God and not something, or someone, else.
Great post, set me thinking :)
    God bless

"....Have you spiritually been born of God? Have you received his image in your countenances? Have ye esperienced this mighty change in your hearts?

  9. Wonderful post Lisa... Above all else, my desire is that others can see the light of Christ shining through everything I say and do.

(And yes, I get some strange looks when I'm out with my kids as well... :-))
