If anyone was watching me as I was trying on rubber Halloween masks at K Mart with my daughter, they probably thought I was a little strange, a bit unstable. I'm sure we were causing quite a scene. Other times I may appear uncaring or indifferent as I hurry through my schedule for the day.
Whether I'm rushing through a store or being silly with my daughter, there is one thing I hope people all see when they look at me . . .
People paid attention to Joseph. His brothers noticed when his father gave him the special coat. They also noticed when Joseph had dreams about sheaves of wheat bowing down to him.
Potipher noticed Joseph (so did his wife - which landed him in jail). In prison, the fellow inmates and the prison guard noticed Joseph, and later on Pharaoh noticed him too. What did all these people see when they looked at Joseph?
They all saw that the Lord was with Joseph. (Gen. 39:3, 23; Gen. 41:38)
. . . and that is the one thing I hope people see when they look at me.
I pray that Jesus shines through me everyday, whether I am goofing around or concentrating on the task at hand. When the world looks at me, I pray they see that the Lord is with me.
What does the world see when they look at you?
