Um, What???

I love my husband, but there are some things he does that just do not make sense to me.  Like how can you walk right past the laundry basket that is sitting on the stairs and not take it up.  Or why would you carry your dishes all the way to the dishwasher, yet not put them in the dishwasher.   And don't even get me started on the way he drives. I know the best right routes to take, but my husband takes a different route.  I just don't understand.

Of course I am not really complaining about my husband. (smiles)  But there are just a few things that he does that make me say, "Um, what?"  I've come to realize that the reason some of these things don't make sense to me is simply because it's not the way I would do it.

The disciples seemed to be having an "um, what?" moment in the passage of scripture:

He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but three days later he will rise from the dead.” They didn’t understand what he was saying, however, and they were afraid to ask him what he meant.  Mark 9:31-31

It seems to me that Jesus was pretty clear with His words.  So why didn't the disciples understand what He was saying?

Perhaps it was because what Jesus was saying didn't fit into their plans.  It didn't make sense to them, so they didn't understand.

We need to remember that just because something doesn't make sense to us or it's not the way we would do it doesn't mean that it is wrong - especially when it comes to God.  We don't have to understand, we just have to trust.

Continuing to count my blessing from 1 - 1000.  This week I am thankful for:

301.  Fun night out with friends for dinner and a movie
302.  The new movie Courageous
303.  Pumpkin pancakes at IHop
304.  The noise of a house full of people
305.  The quiet that comes after the people are gone
306.  Going on a photography field trip with my daughter
307.  Stopping in the middle of the road to take pictures like this

308.  And this

309. The truth that Jesus cares
310.  Jesus has all power and authority over everything
311.  Celebrating new life with water baptisms today
312.  Rest after a long day

Many blessings,

  3. Hi Lisa - I spend so much thought on how I think God is going to do something and when He does it I'm just plain blown away. His ways and definitely not ours, thank goodness
    God bless

  4. Guys are difficult to understand most of the time:) I like this "We need to remember that just because something doesn't make sense to us or it's not the way we would do it doesn't mean that it is wrong - especially when it comes to God." I find the things that don't make sense to others are exactly what make sense to God...His ways are not our ways~ (not to be irreverent but that could apply to our husbands as well!!

  6. Thankfully for us, we really don't need to (and in many cases are ill-equipped to) understand why God does some of the things He does. We simply need to trust in His love and desire for our growth in Him, and go from there.

    Love your list!

    Have a Blessed Day!

  9. So true, we don't have to understand, we just have to trust. And we don't have to understand TO trust! We don't have to understand what He's doing to be a part of it either!

Thank you for your sweet comments! Sometimes "I got nothing" as they say, and other times it's easy, lol!

  10. Great post. Here is a thought: this year 2 of my neighbors became widows - they would probably rejoice at the quirks their husbands had, just to have them near. God works in ALL things, to convict us and draw us nearer to Himself. Men have a hard time understanding women, too. God designed it that way for a reason. Cherish your husband all the days of your life with him.
