A Selfish People

I know what scripture says about how we are supposed to live, but I wonder if this is more reflective on how we actually live:

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ,
if any comfort from his love,
if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
then make my joy complete by . . .

being self-centered, having self love, being divided in spirit and purpose.

Do everything out of selfish ambition and vain conceit;
consider yourself better than others.

Each of you should look to your own interests; don't worry about the interests of others.

Your attitude should be the same as the world's.

Just something to think about.

Don't forget about the awesome giveaway I'm hosting this week in celebration of my birthday.  Click HERE for details on how to enter to win a copy of Grace for the Good Girl.  Winner will be announced Friday morning.

Linking with Thought Provoking Thursday at

  1. Hi Lisa - I know I'm guilty of being selfish. Hard not to look after self first sometimes. Great post - lots to think about
    God bless

  2. Definitley something to think about as I go through my day. Too many times I get caught up in ME and my feelings instead of the needs of my children. Today I'm going to deny myself and focus on them. Great post!

  3. Lisa, the issue of selfishness has been coming up a lot in my circle lately. I know this is an area God wants to address in my life. Blessings to you sister.

  4. So true! We can all be selfish. We have to fight against it everyday. Its not about us...its all about God!:)

  5. Something to think about. I can be selfish at times. I pray God helps me to focus on Him and others not self.

  6. Ouch. Yes definitely something to think about. Thanks, Lisa.

  7. Love how you did this Lisa! I'll second Eileen's comment... ouch! But in a good way :)

  8. I had a moment just yesterday viewing a young woman that I love greatly show the; "It's All About Me". I am sure we all have those moments; but this is on the increase in our world today. One more sign of the 2nd coming of Christ.
Thanks for the thought provoking read. Keep on enjoying your very giving moments.

  9. Lisa,

I love how you wrote this, it definitely makes me examine my own selfish behavior. You gave me much to think about my friend.

    Blessings to you Lisa

  10. I think we're all guilty of allowing ourselves to succumb to selfish desires now and again. In those moments, it's important to recognize the behavior we're exhibiting, and refocus on God's overwhelming presence in our lives.

    Thought provoking post today Lisa!

    Have a Blessed Day!
