One of "Those" Mornings

Yesterday I had one of those mornings.  I wasn't necessarily grumpy when I woke up, but I wasn't full of joy either.  Then my husband got a call that irritated him and as he was sharing the details with me, I felt my irritation level rise.  About 30 minutes after hubby left, he called to share another irritation with me.  Now I was irritated not only at this other thing, but also at my husband.  Then I got a call from someone else about another issue.  People, leave me alone!

As I was posting on Facebook about having one of "those" mornings, God spoke to me.  Why does this phrase have to be negative?  Why can't one of "those" mornings refer to a morning spent in God's presence?   We seem to talk more about our bad mornings than our good ones.  Are we glorifying God in this?  No!  Let's change our focus.  Instead of expecting it to be a bad day, let's expect it to be God's day.

 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, 
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Psalms 90:14

Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; 
therefore I will wait for him."
Lamentations 3:22-24

 O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you.
Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.
Isaiah 33:2

It is good to praise the LORD 
and make music to your name, O Most High,
to proclaim your love in the morning 
and your faithfulness at night.

 This is the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.

    God's desire for us is not to dwell in the negatives of this world, but instead to learn from our experiences and count the many Blessings He gives us each day. Making everyday "God's Day" sounds like a wonderful way to glorify His gifts!

  9. I've missed you too, Lisa. I've been so busy on my writing that I've failed to listen for your voice, too, and your voice has always been an echo of that other Voice I need to hear every day. You bless me.

    Your response to my blog is a blessing too. You could have left it without those last little four words, but you added them, and I heard God's gracious blessing in the message. You are a voice of God to me, for sure. I'm glad you do what you do.

  11. A lot of days at work start like "those" mornings. Then I try to sit back and wonder, what am I supposed to be learning about this day? And usually just asking is enough to find something and make the day a little better.

  12. This is the day I needed to read this Lisa! I could easily let tomorrow be one of those days. Now I am going to write down these scriptures and take them with me as I go to the doc tomorrow. I am believing for a good day regardless of the report. Thanks for reminding me that everyday in HIM is a good day!

  14. I am not a morning person. But I so want to be. I so need to be:) It makes such a difference on so many accounts when I am. I love summer because the boys get to sleep in; but that changes next week - and morning will come early again. Next weeks, priorities change:) Holding on to starting the day with My Father!
