Talking Tuesdays

As I mentioned last Tuesday, I believe it's time to start being more deliberate about sharing the Gospel with others.  Last week I talked about some things that I have been trying and I challenged you to find ways to share God's love.

This past week I've had a few more opportunities to share.  We have Wednesday night Passionate Prayer at our church.  This past week, my husband challenged us to do something different.  We got in groups of two or three and went out to the streets.  We walked around talking to people and giving them a card inviting them back to our church on Sunday for free coffee, water and doughnuts.  These were the same cards I handed out last Tuesday with 3 of my friends.  What an easy way to start a conversation with people.

I just received the 30 copies of the Book of John I ordered from The Pocket Testament League.  These are small little booklets that have unique covers made to appeal to all people.  They are easy to carry and even easier to give out to people that you meet.  I can't wait to start using them.

What are some ways you have been sharing God's love with those around you?  My goal is not to boast about what we are doing, but instead to encourage each other to go into all the world.  Mark 16:15

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good worksHebrews 10:24

So how are you sharing God's love with those around you?  Leave a comment and let us know what you have done.  If you have written a post about witnessing, leave a link to that post in your comment so we can read it.

  1. Hi Lisa. I feel your posts are encouraging me to get out there and do or say something to spread the gospel. I'm not part of any group doing so but maybe through you, God is nudging me to get involved somehow. Watch this space?
    God bless

  2. I have to admit to not doing a whole lot when it comes to noninternet related ministry. Hm... Your post really made me think. Happy Tuesday.

  3. I think one thing I keep learning is the best way to "witness" to someone is to simply serve them. I am trying to look for more ways to do random serving throughout my day.

  4. Yesterday the kids and I made cookies and wrapped them up with a piece of paper that says we prayed for you today and has a scripture. This morning we are taking them around to the neighbors.

I love McDonald's sweet tea and three times last week when I went through the drive thru to get my tea, I paid for the person behind me. I always tried to make sure I can drive off without being "caught" but once I got stuck waiting for my tea and looked in my rear view mirror and the lady was crying. That prompted me to pray for her.

It feels so good to let God flow through you. I want to serve God by serving others.

  5. Lisa,

I admire the way you are getting out there and speaking about God, for an extreme introvert like myself I have to admit that is hard, I serve as much as I can, and I try to live my life as example for the Gospel. Blessings to you Lisa.

  6. Kandi, I am not comfortable talking to strangers, that's why I have been going out in groups. There's safety in numbers. :) I know you have a heart to serve and God is using that. Just keep your eyes on Him.

Jenifer, I love the idea of taking cookies around to the neighbors. We might have to do that. And what a blessing to be able to minister to the people in the drive thru. We were able to do that once last week too.

  8. It's wonderful to see all the great ways you and the other ladies are reaching out in the love of Christ Lisa... Just think if everyone worked from that selfless perspective!

I've been working on a number of outreach projects as of late. Most are individual one-on-one situations with people going through times of trial, but I'm planning on expanding to do more group and special-needs projects as well.

Mind you, I'm liking the idea of the cookies hand-out Jenifer talked about! :-) The kids and I will have to try that one!

    Have a Blessed Day!
