My Life in the Nile

Beholding Glory

It seems like lately I have been living in the nile, otherwise known as denial.  For instance, I was looking at the blooms on my day lilies that are about to open and thinking that it seemed early for them to bloom.  After all, it's only early spring.  What?  Isn't it almost the middle of June?  I know that it is still officially spring, but certainly not early spring.  I've also done this with my son, my baby.  I've thought, he's too little or too young and I have to help him.  Hello, he's close to 14 years old!  Where does time go?

I can live in denial when it comes to my spiritual walk too.  Slowly drifting away from God, I convince myself that all is well.  But God, in His great love, won't let me go.  He speaks to me through His Word, through music, friends and even nature.  He reminds me of how it was and gently pulls me back towards Him.  He won't let me stay in denial.

Thank you God, for never giving up on me.  Thank you for speaking to me through Your Word.  Your love is amazing!

God is so good!

Linking up with Beholding Glory to brag on God.

  1. Lovely post Lisa. I had to laugh outloud at the story about your son. My sister was telling me that my nephew gets himself up with an alarm clock and gets himself ready for school, I thought isn't he a little young for that, um... he is going to 13 in a week HELLO! I love your realness when talk about slipping away from God, it happens to everyone from time to time but I love how you talked how he reigns us back in. Praise God that He loves us too much to let us fall to far away from Him and wants to keep us close.

    Blessings to you Lisa.

  2. Thank you for the reminder that it all comes back to His grace, so comforting.

And what a good comparison... I do that with my kids too, doing things for them that I dont realize they can do themselves.

  3. Praise God He never gives up on us!

  4. I really love your honesty in this post. I think many of us go through periods of where we don't feel as close to God as we would like, and it's refreshing, at least for me, to know that I'm not alone in that.

I love the Lord's steadfastness and I rest in that because even though I may slip away, He's always there to bring me back. God is so good!

    God bless,

  5. Amen, He is so good and so faithful!

  6. Lisa, a great reminder. We tend to drift so subtly. And, denial is often the result. My desire is to be tuned into Him so he can direct my steps.

  7. Awesome post Lisa. I too am so thankful God has not given up on me and for Him speaking to me. He is good.

    God bless,

  8. Hi Lisa. God is so good, all the time. He is gentle with us, keeping us near. We can be such clods sometimes. Thank goodness He knows us better than we know ourselves.
    God bless
