You Are Beautiful

All of us!  Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face.  And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.  2 Corinthians 3:18 The Message (emphasis mine)

This topic came up recently in our womens Bible study, and while it mainly deals with women, I hope all readers will hear the message God is speaking - YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

Too many of God's girls don't believe that.  Satan has been whispering lies in their ears.  These lies are keeping His girls (people) defeated.  And that's just what our enemy wants.

It goes something like this.  You hear the call of God in your life and you're ready to take that step of faith.  Then you hear that other voice that says, but wait, you're not as pretty as the other women.  Your clothes are too old.  Your hair is too flat or too curly.  You're too fat or too thin.  You're worthless.  Our enemy knows that if he keeps us focused on our insecurities, then we won't rise up to do mighty things in the kingdom. If we believe these lies, then satan wins.  I don't know about you, but that makes me mad!!!

Women of God, we must stop believing these lies, and instead, listen to the voice of truth.

Look at the verse at the top of this post.  What does it say it is that makes us beautiful?  We become beautiful when Jesus shines through us and we become like Him.  It has nothing to do with our outward appearance. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. God has already equipped with everything we need to accomplish His will.

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  Ephesians 2:10

I challenge you now to walk with your head held high.  Not in pride or arrogance because of who you are, but with confidence because of whose you are.

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

Memorizing James
If you are taking part in the challenge to memorize the entire book of James this year, you will need to memorize two verses each week. This week's verses are:
James 1:21-22
21.  Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22.  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.

  3. I love this post, especially the part where you emphasized that our beauty comes from Him shining through us... what trips us up is when we try to find our beauty by the world's standards and we'll never measure up to that... we were never meant to! Thank you for this wonderful reminder. Blessings!

  5. Ladies, from what I've come to know about all of you over the last six months or so I can tell that you're all beautiful, even if I hadn't seen a photo. Lisa, you summed it up beautifully with the statement :

"We become beautiful when Jesus shines through us and we become like Him."

He shines brightly from each of you. :-)

    Have a Blessed Day!

  7. Amazing! And, to top it all off, WE ARE LOVED! That's what I've been trying to get my heart around lately. Why can I not absorb that reality? I know it's true, but it's so hard to FEEL it. Why? Maybe because it's so hard to fathom?
