More Than Enough?

We live in an over-indulgent world, don't we?   Our lives are characterized by more than enough.  Even if we don't have more than enough money, we have more than enough cars, clothes, shoes, food, stuff.  Most of us have more than enough things to make it through it day.

So why do we settle for just enough when it comes to Jesus?

We take just enough Jesus with us to make it through each day.  We do 90% and use Him for the 10% we can't handle.  At the end of the day we are worn out and exhausted.  Is this how it should be?

Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things.  In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.  1 Chronicles 29:12

Jesus has all authority.  He has the power to give us strength.  The Word says that those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength.  (Isaiah 40:31 ESV)  So why do we try so hard to do it on our own?

I challenge you today to give it all to Jesus.  Don't move ahead on your own, but wait for Him.   Discover all that Jesus has to offer and see for yourself that He is more than enough.

Memorizing James
If you are taking part in the challenge to memorize the entire book of James this year, you will need to memorize two verses each week. This week's verses are:
James 1:21-22
21.  Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22.  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.

  2. Wow! That hit me like a ton of bricks today. I have often said we life in a "super-size me" world. I love the way you put it, Lisa. "So why do we settle for just enough when it comes to Jesus?

I refuse to 'settle' when it comes to Jesus. I want the full 100% He has to give. I can't and won't do it on my own!!!

  3. I don't want to settle. I can't do life with out God. I don't want to do it part way. God is more than enough for me, so why would I even consider trying to do anything without Him.

  4. To be honest, I think I'm 90% me 10% Jesus but this is one of those things we will be working on. I WANT 100% Jesus and 0% me and I know He's faithful to provide so I'm gonna keep on seeking. Thank you for this great post.
